Spring Break Road Trip Preparedness

We know Spring Break road trips and Family Vacations for Easter are just around the corner. That means you need to make sure your vehicle is in good working order! Keep reading to learn more about how you can keep your family safe on the road this Spring!

It’s really easy!

One of the best and easiest things you can do to make sure your vehicle is safe to drive for Spring Break is simply to have it regularly maintained. Having your vehicle’s oil changed is so very important to your vehicle’s engine life. We’ve seen some vehicles where it seemed like the oil may never have been changed. The oil was thick and practically chunky. An engine just can’t perform when the oil is that old. You must realize that the oil lubricates all the moving parts on the inside of the engine. If it’s thick and chunky, it won’t do its job like it’s supposed to. Fresh oil does wonders to keep your engine running properly.

Another thing you can do is simply to keep the fluids topped off. Keeping the fluids, like the brake fluid and transmission fluid, at their proper levels ensures the other engine components work at optimal performance.

Other things to check…

You also want to make sure another few things are in good working order. Double check your vehicle’s air filter. If it’s dirty, replace it. A clean air filter means your engine is getting good air flow. When was the last time you checked the condition of your wiper blades? Don’t get stuck in a sudden downpour and not be able to see the road! Replace them if the rubber is falling apart or if the rubber is coming apart from the metal housing. Don’t forget to test your battery and fill your tires to the proper air pressure as well.
